The short version
Cleave does not have a server. Your prayers, reflections, and reading history live on your device and (if you choose) in your private iCloud database. We never see them.
What stays on your device or in your iCloud
- Prayer cards — names, details, cadences, answered notes.
- Daily reflections — anything you write in the reflection field on Today.
- Reading completion history.
- Which Bible reading plan is active and the morning time you picked.
If you’re signed into iCloud, this data syncs across your Apple devices through Apple’s private CloudKit container. We have no access to that container.
What we collect (anonymously)
To know which features people use and to catch crashes, Cleave sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck. These signals contain no names, no prayer content, no reflection text — only event names like app_open, paywall_shown, purchase_completed, plus a hashed device identifier that is rotated and cannot be tied back to you. TelemetryDeck stores this data in the EU and processes it on our behalf.
Apple App Store entries
Apple’s App Privacy section in the App Store reflects:
- Data Used to Track You: None.
- Data Linked to You: None.
- Data Not Linked to You: Product Interaction (Analytics + App Functionality), Performance Data (Analytics).
Purchases
Cleave Pro is sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system. We never see your payment information; Apple sends us a transaction receipt and we use it only to verify your subscription is active.
Email contact
If you write to carterfletcherdev@gmail.com, we keep your email and our reply for as long as the conversation needs us to. We don’t add you to any list.
Your rights and controls
- Delete all your data: Settings → Delete all my data. This wipes every prayer card, reflection, reading record, and onboarding setting from your device, and removes the corresponding records from your private iCloud Cleave container. The action is irreversible and is confirmed before it executes.
- Delete your iCloud Cleave records separately: iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Cleave → Delete Data.
- Opt out of analytics: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → toggle Share iPhone & Watch Analytics off. Cleave honors this system-level toggle.
- Uninstall the app: Removing Cleave from your iPhone removes its on-device data with it. iCloud data persists separately unless you also delete it in iOS Settings as described above.
Children
Cleave is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone in that age range.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we’ll update the date at the top and explain what changed.
